My Memory of Rouroni by Mr. Xtreme

Created by Rock 11 years ago
Rouroni was definitely an XJL warrior. He was a very dedicated RLSH and he was like a brother to me. We grew closer as we worked more together on various projects and patrolled frequently together. When Rouroni started with the Xtreme Justice League almost 2 years, I didn't think he would last at all. Radnor recruited him and I just felt that Rouroni was only here because Radnor needed a ride home after patrol or just to hang out with us. The first few months Rouroni patrolled with us a civilian and I thought he would fizzle and fade away. What suprised me was that Rouroni actually took a geniune interest in our group and cause. He started patrolling almost every week. We got into many Code Xtreme's on patrol. Rouroni would often times rush into a mob of people fighting and he would keep a cool head in the midst of the chaos. He would also get his hat stolen during a situation! He would assist victims and try and comfort them as the rest of the team would deal with the situation. Rouroni never carried weapons or wore body armor even when we patrolled some of San Diego's most violent neighborhoods. He was absolutely fearless. Rouroni brought to the XJL a characteristic that was truly uniqiue and not easily found. He was serious when things needed to get done and he would liven things up when the mood was getting a bit stagnant. Rouroni would try and act mysterious around reporters and journalist. He would try and act like a clown around the new recruits and younger members. Rouroni liked giving the new members a hard time by annoying them until they've had it. For being only 20 years old, Rouroni had a strong opinion about how the organization should run. He was always expressing his opinion at our chapter meetings and he had many great ideas. Rouroni really cared about the Xtreme Justice League and the San Diego community which he served. Rouroni also dedicated his time helping other chapters and organizations. Last year Rouroni and Radnor went all the way to Santa Barbara to assist Bearman with a special Halloween patrol. Rouroni answered that call when no else did. Me and Rouroni had also spent time together in the Guardian Angels. There were numerous times he took off his bamboo hat and put on a red beret and we patrolled San Diego in between XJL patrols. He even assisted the Los Angeles Chapter of the Guardian Angels earlier this year with their campaign to bring a serial arsonist to justice and raise awareness in the Hollywood community. Aside from his volunteerism, he donated equipment and goods to the XJL SD chapter so we could operate more efficiently. Things will never be the same again without him. Rouroni will truly be missed.
